In her master’s degree in mathematics at the University of New South Wales, Youstina researched the depth extent of marine heatwaves and associated drivers in the Tasman Sea including the influence of meso-scale eddies on their structure.

Her PhD, also at UNSW, is now expanding on the research by looking at the predictability of these events through dynamical process analysis and machine learning using models and observations.
